Last night New York City FC lost 3-1 at home to defending supporter's shield and US Open Cup winners the Seattle Sounders. NYCFC's trajectory of seven straight losses isn't unfamiliar territory for an MLS expansion team, though I agree with Alexi Lalas's statement something to the effect of the novelty of coming to Yankee Stadium to watch a losing team will wear off fast. While the Seattle Sounders fared the best of the expansion teams snapping their opening season losing streak at six, New York is facing a number of injuries that might make it harder to accomplish. For a group of guys who have known each other less than year I thought they came out of the gate with strong with good team play, but as the season goes on the starters are looking a little tired. Maybe with a few extra players and as injuries with their current roster heal they'll be able to shift momentum in a positive direction.
