I liked this image from the Germany game enough that I saved it for its own post. The sun was dropping in the late afternoon sky and most of the game was happening on the other side of the field. I was grabbing a few pictures of German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, waiting for her to look over her right shoulder so the light would hit her face when the Ivory Coast finally broke free. One of the wingers sent a ball into the box and forward Binta Diakite went up for the header. Goalkeeper Angerer went up for it and had the ball in her hands but couldn't keep it on the way down. Arms and legs went everywhere as neither player was able to retain possession. A German defender was able to clear the ball, but not before I got this shot. Hoping for some more good stuff this weekend though the indoor Olympic Stadium in Montreal won't have the advantage of natural sunlight.

Just about everything that could go wrong did the week before heading off to Canada for Women's World Cup 2015, but in the end I was extremely delighted to get my credentials and make it down to the field for my first World Cup. Both matches in Ottawa were won in convincing fashion with Norway defeating Thailand 4-0, and Germany taking the Ivory Coast with a whopping 10-0. This weekend I'm excited to be in Montreal for Brazil v Spain and Korea v Costa Rica. Here are some matches from the Germany, Ivory Coast goal fest. Enjoy!
