Red Bulls in Fine Form

The New York Red Bulls go into the weekend tied for first place in the league with FC Dallas having beaten the Philadelphia Union at home 4-1 last week, their final regular season home game for the year.  Both the Red Bulls and Dallas have the chance to take home the Supporter's Shield this weekend, the trophy for the most regular season wins in the MLS.  To make things more interesting, the league changed the start times of both teams' games so they coincide.  Either way, the Red Bulls have sealed their own fate into the playoffs and will host the Conference Semi-Finals Sunday, November 8th at Red Bull Arena.  Photos above are from this weekend's win over Philadelphia; enjoy!

New York City FC ties Philadelphia at home

New York City FC went up 1-0 in the second half with a scorcher of a goal from Medhi Ballouchy, but couldn't hold off the Philadelphia Union attack letting in an equalizer in the 86th minute from CJ Sapong.  David Villa started the match, but sat out the second half; Mix Diskerud was resting after playing in Wednesday's US Men's National Team match against Mexico.

Philadelphia has a great little stadium perched under a bridge on the Delaware River; the people are nice, and the experience is intimate.  Crystal Palace marks my first time being on the field with a team from the English (read Barclays) Premier League.  We could have asked for a more exciting game; the Philadelphia Union gave up an early own goal and Palace decided to protect the win more than taking risks in the pre-season friendly.  Palace wins 1-0.
